Chiropractic (Back to Top)

Chiropractic, although often misunderstood, is about helping people live healthier, fuller lives. While typically thought of as "bone doctors", chiropractors actually focus on the nervous system, particularly the spine, as the key to a healthy and pain-free body. The basis of our work focuses on correcting misalignments in the spinal column (called “subluxations”), improving the functioning of the entire nervous system.
In order to reduce pain and dramatically improve quality of life, chiropractors make ‘adjustments’ that re-align your body and re-establish proper nerve flow throughout the body. Once the correct structural order has been restored, the nerve signals between the brain and the body flow freely, allowing your body’s natural healing systems to function optimally. Chiropractic work is widely researched, practiced, and respected, and has been shown to help a wide range of ailments, from allergies to whiplash.

Chiropractic examinations are non-invasive and are performed with the patient fully clothed. This initial examination is used to determine the course of treatment, as well as any other care necessary to establish optimal health.

Initial examinations for chiropractic care take approximately 30 to 45 minutes, with an extra 15 to 30 minutes typically scheduled for any adjustment necessary. The fees for the initial examination are based upon the complexity of the case and range from $50-75 for children to $75-$100 for adults. Fees for any adjustment performed in conjunction with the initial examination typically cost $35-$85.00

Please see the Forms section on home page. Download forms for care as a new chiropractic patient and fill out prior to visit. You can send it in an attached file to my email so I can review ahead of time which will give me almost 10 more mins more to your one -on-one patient care!

Manual Adjustments There are a variety of techniques now in use by chiropractors to aid in the adjustment of their patients. However, the original method developed by Dr. D. D. Palmer is the manual adjustment.

A manual adjustment is typically performed on a special chiropractic table and relief is often noticeable immediately. Chiropractic adjustments often take between 10-15 minutes, but can be longer if there is a significant amount of soft tissue (i.e. tendon, ligament or muscular) constriction. Longer adjustments can range from 20-45 minutes, and often incorporate a combination of other therapies which help reduce the tension in the soft tissues.

A manual adjustment consists of a firm, yet gentle, corrective movement of the neck, mid or lower back. A corrective mobilization is used to rectify an extremity (i.e., rib, shoulder, wrist, elbow, hip, knee, or ankle) which is fixated. Manual adjustments, when performed correctly, allow a degree of finesse not usually found with any technological device, such as activator.
Activator adjustment is just as effective and would be a matter of what my clients feel comfortable with. I find it great for Children and Elder adults as the intensity of the adjustment can be modified to each individual.

An adjustment at our office is literally from “head to toe.”

The cost of a chiropractic adjustment may range from $35-50 for children and seniors, to $45 and up for teens and adults. Fees are based upon the complexity of the case and the amount of time needed to resolve the issue.

Nutrition Exam
Clinical nutrition is one of the fastest-growing areas of alternative health care today. A tremendous amount of research in this area has thoroughly documented the efficacy and benefit of sound nutrition and its importance in our overall health and well-being.

For centuries we’ve known that certain vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids and proteins help modulate and control various aspects of our physiology.

Soft Tissue Manipulation
Massage therapy involves the physical manipulation of soft tissues to promote overall well-being. The ultimate goal of massage therapy is to aid the body in healing itself and to increase all aspects of good health.

Chiropractors learn specific techniques for massage and use their sense of touch to determine the right amount of pressure to apply to each person and locate areas of tension and other soft-tissue problems.

When muscles are overworked, waste products such as lactic acid can accumulate in the muscle, causing soreness, stiffness, and even muscle spasm. Massage improves circulation, which increases blood flow, bringing fresh oxygen to body tissues. This can assist the elimination of waste products, speed healing after injury, and enhance recovery from disease.

At Z`ChiroMedSpa , Dr. Z. Coleman applies her knowledge of clinical nutrition and its vital role in achieving and maintaining optimal health.

Medical Massage (Back to Top)

Medical Massage differs from regular Massage and Bodywork in that the treatment is specifically directed to resolve conditions diagnosed by a doctor.  I may use a variety of modalities or techniques during the treatment, but I focus the treatment only on the specific areas of the body related to the diagnosis.  This enhances the body’s natural self-healing process and reduces the needed recovery time from injury.

Herbal Medicine (Back to Top)

Herbal Medicine is the therapeutic use of plants, and is one of the oldest forms of health care in the world.  Depending on your specific needs, we prescribe specific herbs that produce and contain a variety of chemical substances that act upon the body.  Different herbs have been effectively used for a wide range of medicinal purposes including pain relief, hormone balancing, sleep enhancement, improved digestion, skin soothing, and stress relief.

BIo-Energetic Body Scan (Back to Top)

Electro-acupuncture and stress testing provide an opportunity to measure electrical responses and meridian flows of the body.  Bioenergetic evaluates the energy flow and helps identify various stressors that might impede the electrical process that assures the very function of all your organs and system in the body.  The evaluation may include recommendations for natural remedies, stress reduction methods and/or nutritional changes designed to balance the energy meridians and enhance overall wellness.  These recommendations are not cures for any known diseases, nor have they been proven clinically to eliminate any specific disease process.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bionetic/Bioenergetic Testing

What is EAV/Electro dermal screening and how does it work?

Electro acupuncture according to Voll-EAV or Electro dermal Screening, is a type of electro-vibrational testing developed by Dr. Reinhold Voll in Germany in the 1940’s and
50’s to measure meridian energy flow in the human body.  It is a type of testing that uses a small amount of voltage applied to the skin which tests the body’s skin resistance.

What is the Body Scan?

The BodyScan 2010 is an FDA registered biofeedback/stress testing device that measures
your physiological response to outside stimuli.  It uses biofeedback by attaching electrodes to your head, fingers, wrists and ankles and EAV as described above.

Will I “feel” it or get a shock?

No.  This whole process is totally painless.

What is Bionetics?

Bionetics is a term which embraces all aspects of the body’s energetic and informational dimensions, or life systems.  It involves stress testing using a wide variety of modalities
including Chinese medicine, homeopathy, nutrition and bio-resonance therapy.

Can I work with my regular physician and also use Bionetic testing?

More and more physicians are open to an integrative or multi-dimensional approach to medicine.  If you have a physician, it is a good idea to inform him/her of your decision to consult a Bionetics practitioner who uses homeopathic remedies and nutritional recommendations as part of your wellness program.

What can I expect from my first session?

The goal of a Bioenergetic practitioner is to help you bring your body into balance.  It is documented that stress can lead to blocked energy, which can lead to all types of disease in the body.  Although we don’t treat symptoms or cure any disease, you will find that as your energy begins to flow more freely and your body systems become balanced your symptoms will clear.

How does stress affect my health?

Chi Gong and Tai Chi master Ken Cohen defines stress as “a maladaptive response to change in the environment.” Finding ways to deal with stress is critical to wellness. Although stress affects individuals differently, one fact is beyond dispute: stress, especially unresolved, long-term stress, is a primary contributor to psychological and biological illness.

What is Bionetic/Bioenergetic testing and how does it work?

Bionetic testing performed through your hair sample is a type of electro-vibrational testing developed by Dr. Reinhold Voll in Germany in the 1940’s and 50’s to measure acupuncture meridian energy flow or communication pathways in the human body.

One definition of stress is “a maladaptive response to change in the environment”.   Finding ways to deal with stress is critical to wellness.   Although stress affects individuals differently, one fact is beyond dispute:   stress, especially unresolved, long-term stress, is a primary contributor to psychological and biological illness.

What will my wellness protocol include?

Homeopathy, nutritional supplements, dietary changes, flower essences, lifestyle changes and exercise may all help bring your body and communication pathways into balance.   Together we will work to determine the best course of action for you in your journey toward wellness.

What is homeopathy?

Homeopathy is the healing discipline established by Samuel Hahnemann in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.   Homeopathic remedies work with the law of Physics.   In the law of Physics, when a frequency is matched to the same frequency, it cancels it out.   Its like the opera singer when she sings a note and it cracks a crystal glass, this is the law of Physics in action.   We match frequencies that are resonating in your body, bring them into balance to cancel them out.

When will I start feeling better?

Natural healing can take time.   You may not experience wellness overnight, but you may notice slight changes in your health after one scan.   Some clients have been known to experience remarkable improvement in health status after just one scan, while other situations require a great length of time.   Your healing depends on many factors: Length of time the condition or symptoms have been present, seriousness of the condition, and most of all, your willingness to follow the recommended protocol. Be assured that healing is occurring on a cellular level, even though you may not consciously feel it.   You may begin to notice subtle improvements in your energy as weeks go by.

How often should I be scanned?

We recommend getting scanned on a regular basis for a minimum of six scans before expecting dramatic results.    This is a process that will set you on a journey towards feeling better, having more energy and looking younger.

How come I have never heard of this before?

This type of testing is fairly new to the United States, although Meridian testing has been happening in Europe and Eastern countries for centuries.   It is only in the last few years of the computer revolution that the testing has become fast and accurate enough to be utilized.

The bioenergetic evaluation is not a method of diagnosing, nor are the suggested remedies designed to
replace any of the medications or treatments currently being provided or recommended by a primary care practitioner.

Trigger Point Therapy (Back to Top)

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing “trigger points” in your body.  Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle tissue rather than along the energy pathways of the body.  These ‘knots’ are built up throughout a person’s life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress.  During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points.  This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

Deep Tissue Massage (Back to Top)

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Bio Emergetics Hair Scan (Back to Top)

INTRODUCING THE HAIR SCAN WITH THE BODY SCAN 2010

We live in a world that is hectic, fast-paced and filled with stress.  Prolonged emotional and physical stress due to nutritional deficiencies and biological insults to the body can produce actual tissue changes and organ dysfunction.  Studies have shown that stress is responsible for 80% of all illness.  Eliminating or reducing stress in the body can bring the body back to balance and better health.

The Body Scan 2010 is designed to send micro frequencies throughout a body, or through a sample of hair. The changes in responses and wave patterns are measured and analyzed.  The overall stress patterns of the organs and systems of the body are then summarized in a report.

We then gather all this information along with the stress responses and customize remedies to help bring your body into balance. Homeopathic remedies and nutritional supplements are recommended and tested for bio-compatibility with your body type.

The doctor will contact you after the test is completed to review the test results. You will also receive a printed report explaining the results as well as general information on dietary changes and how to take your remedies
