DETOX to LOOSE WEIGHT

Detox to relieve
Pain and Inflamation!

For some sufferers, arthritis is a minor irritation, a stiff finger or a mild ache in a hip. For over four million Canadians, arthritis is a disabling fact of life

Studies around the globe support the contention that a vegetarian diet will reduce all arthritic symptoms. Mineral imbalances are commonplace in arthritic disorders. Coffee, alcohol and refined sugar each contribute to creating mineral imbalances. Avoid these and allow your body to maintain proper usable mineral (especially calcium and iron) quantities. Ensure you are getting enough iodine, selenium, calcium and magnesium in your diet. Food sources of these minerals include
kelp; dark green leafy vegetables; seafood; nuts; legumes; and whole-grain breads and cereals.

Drink one half ounce of  pure water for each pound of body weight you carry. Eat sparingly of rhubarb, cranberries, plums, spinach and chard. These foods are high in oxalic acid and tend to disturb mineral balance in the body. Nightshades tend to aggravate the inflammatory response, so avoid the whole family. These include tomatoes, tobacco, potatoes, peppers and eggplant.

Eat whole grains, lots of vegetables, fruits and tofu and add herbs instead of salt and sugar to your meals. Avoid all refined flour, sugar and fats. Sea salt or Celtic salt may be consumed in moderation; avoid saline salt. Add good fat to your diet, like cold-pressed (extra virgin) olive oil, flax seed oil, walnut or almond oil, hempseed oil or evening primrose. Adding omega-3 oils, such as salmon and halibut, can enhance proper immune response and lessen pain.

Cleanse and Tone

Toxic debris like uric acid accumulated in your body can be the second major culprit in aggravating an inflammatory response. A liver and bowel cleanse can help. Many herbs cleanse both the liver and the bowel, such as dandelion, milk thistle, barberry, cascara sagrada, licorice, chickweed, ginger and cayenne. The aromatic herbs, such as fennel, anise, dill and cinnamon, reduce gas and gastric pain.

Bowel cleanses work best with dry herbs, especially with the addition of organic flax seeds, which provide bulk to move material from the digestive tract. Dry herbs, in addition to stimulating the liver, stomach and bowel, also add bulk and fibre to assist in scrubbing and pushing debris out of the bowel. Consume these either as teas or capsules. Remember to drink extra glasses of water to move the herbs and flax seeds through your digestive system.

Having a series of colonics can expedite the clearing of debris from your bowel. Find a reputable therapist and begin this therapy while undertaking a bowel cleanse or fast. The first session may be quite uncomfortable for a few of us (I remember), but the huge increase in physical energy and well-being is worth it. The subsequent sessions are generally much less dramatic but do their bit for a more thorough clearing of your bowel.

Toning the kidneys and liver will increase excretion of excess acids in the body. Uva ursi, dandelion, stinging nettles, cleavers, gravelroot (joe pye weed), horseradish and horsetail all work well. Adding chickweed, marshmallow or plantain will increase the safe diuretic effect, while adding a demulcent one. (Demulcents are soothing agents that protect mucus membranes and relieve irritation.) Urinary demulcents will ensure that passing those acids will not irritate the kidneys or bladder.

Mix three or four of the herbs together, making sure that one of them is a demulcent. Use one teaspoon of the blend per cup of boiled water. Drink at least three cups each day for best effect. These herbs work very well to reduce the painful swelling of arthritis, especially gout. Clover tea with uva ursi, horsetail or stinging nettle will cleanse your blood and help eliminate excess acids in your system.

In today’s polluted world, even with the best dietary habits and lifestyle we are susceptible to toxic overload through the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat. Toxins stored by the body can overwhelm the liver and result in chronic inflammation, which leads to autoimmune disease.

The removal of toxins can be accomplished through cleansing and detoxification&most effectively involving every part of the body’s elimination system. The body’s seven channels of elimination are the colon, liver, kidneys, lungs, blood, skin, and lymphatic system.

To cleanse and detoxify, we can choose colon hydrotherapy, dietary changes, herbal cleansing programs, some specifically for the liver, saunas and steam baths, nutrient supplementation, and exercise.

1. Flush away toxins

Colon cleansing is the first step in the detoxification process. By cleansing the colon with herbs and hydrotherapy, a pathway is cleared for other organs to begin to cleanse and detoxify. Colon hydrotherapy is the therapeutic application of water in the colon, which helps tone the bowel so it resumes normal function. Many people have been able to overcome chronic constipation problems through colon hydrotherapy as stools are softened and loosened, resulting in evacuation through natural peristalsis.

2. Change your diet

Begin by eliminating refined sugar, refined flour, caffeine, alcohol, preservatives, artificial colours, refined carbohydrates, refined oils, and processed meats from your diet to reduce the number of toxins you take in. Drink plenty OF WATER so the kidneys can perform adequately, consuming one-half ounce (15 millilitres) of water for every pound of body weight (for example, a 120-lb person should drink 60 oz (1.8 L) water daily).

3. Use herbal cleansing kits

Easy-to-use cleansing kits ideally

The properties of these natural herbs, probiotics, and enzymes offer and provide for the cleansing of the organs and the eliminatory channels.

Within 7 to 10 days you will experience relief resulting from the elimination of wastes from your organism, thanks to the effect of this formula on the digestive system and other organs throughout the body.*

It include herbs that simultaneously support all organs and systems of elimination, with special emphasis on the colon and liver. For example, all cleansing programs need to include fibre, which absorbs and helps eliminate toxins. Fibre from flax seeds provides a well-balanced ratio of 50-per-cent soluble and 50-per-cent insoluble fibre. Soluble fibre absorbs the toxins and insoluble fibre sweeps the colon clean.

Cleansing kits also should include magnesium hydroxide, which is useful in hydrating the colon, aiding elimination.

Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are another essential component of any cleansing kit as they have many health benefits, help lubricate the colon, and enhance elimination. Use EFA-rich fish, flax, or borage oil for best results.

4. Cleanse the liver

Liver cleansing can be accomplished through diet (with added fibre and high water intake) and special herbal cleansing programs. Since much of the liver’s toxic burden is a result of heavy metal exposure, and we should reduce exposure to these metals. A heavy metal cleanse is often appropriate, and should consist of two parts: a combination of chelating agents and a multivitamin complex to replace nutrients lost during chelation. The chelating agent might include herbs and sea plants, amino acids, and antioxidants such as chlorella, cilantro, sodium alginate, garlic, kelp, and alpha lipoic acid to bind with the metal and facilitate its removal from the body.

5. Support natural detox

Anyone on a detoxification program can benefit from extra vitamins and minerals, particularly the antioxidants (vitamins A, C, E and the minerals selenium and zinc) as well as B vitamins. A LIQUID multivitamin and mineral supplement, the use of green “super foods” (made up of concentrated land and/or sea vegetables), or both in combination, may be used to support the body as it detoxifies.

6. Get steamed up

Skin, our largest organ, eliminates waste through perspiration. Heat causes toxins to be released from cells into the lymphatic fluid and excreted as sweat when the body perspires
. Saunas or steam baths create sweat for therapeutic purposes, to not only release toxins from the skin but also to relax muscles and help ease aches and pains. Those with impaired liver or kidney function may safely cleanse and detoxify in this manner, as releasing toxins via the skin through perspiration removes some of the detoxification burden from the kidneys and liver.

7. Move to lose

Exercise is an important part of the detoxification process. Exercise stimulates the movement of lymphatic fluid, allowing toxins to be excreted. Breathing deeply helps eliminate toxins from the cells and enhances immunity. Combining deep breathing with exercise will improve lymph flow and aid the body’s detoxification ability and general state of health.

Cleansing and detoxification of the body is essential in achieving vibrant health. It is up to you to take the first step.

Herbs That Help With Elimination

Infrared Saunas Provide Safe Detoxification

Scientists at Mayo Clinic have discovered that far infrared (FIR) light saunas are safe for heart patients.

The saunas induce perspiration at lower temperatures, letting patients detoxify without risky high temperatures.

Cleansing keeps our bodies healthy. It’s like the spring cleaning you do for your house once a year when you really pull out all the stops. When finished, things look good and feel good, and all of the garbage has been put out for pickup.

However, cleansing can stress the immune system, causing unwanted side effects. Here are five supplements that will aid the body during a cleanse and help the immune system stay on top of its game as well.

Before taking supplements during a cleanse, always
consult with your Holistic Chiropractor.

1. Glutamine

This amino acid is a building block of protein; both the liver and the immune system require protein to function properly. Glutamine is fundamental to immune cell functioning. Research has shown that when lymphocyte or macrophage production is stimulated, this increase in immune cell production also increases the rate that the body uses glutamine.

Studies have shown that many of the immune mediators in the body are actually glutamine dependent, meaning that they require adequate levels of glutamine in order for the immune system to function effectively. If glutamine concentrations in the body are too low, immune cell production decreases substantially.

Interestingly, studies have also indicated that immune cell production increases significantly as glutamine is supplemented. There is consistent evidence supporting the position that increasing the body’s protein intake does not affect kidney functioning in people with healthy kidney systems. Glutamine can be ingested in foods rich in protein or taken by supplementation.

Recommended dose: Supplement with 1 to 2 g of glutamine a day with food.

2. Curcumin

Studied for its detoxifying, anti-inflammatory, and immune-stimulating capabilities, this component of turmeric provides its yellow-orange colour. Curcumin has been shown in studies to have antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, and anticancer properties.

Studies have demonstrated that the herb may have the ability to regulate the activation of immune system cells, including T-cells, macrophages, neutrophils, and natural killer cells. When taken at low dosages, curcumin appears to be able to increase the antibody action of the immune system.

Researchers are studying curcumin’s ability to replicate the action of certain pharmaceutical drugs. Curcumin appears to inhibit certain immune processes in cells pretreated with it.

Recommended dose: Curcumin is consumed in foods containing turmeric and can be taken in supplement form at a dosage of 400 mg twice daily. Those on blood-thinning medications should consult their health care practititioner before taking curcumin.

3. Milk thistle

This herb is best known for its hepato-protective (liver-protecting) and antioxidant properties, but research indicates that it may have some antiviral benefits as well. In one study, milk thistle was shown to have significant antiviral benefits for patients with hepatitis C. Milk thistle improved the immune response by controlling pro-inflammatory mediators in patients’ immune systems, with no indication of side effects or toxicity.

Recommended dose: Dosage for milk thistle is generally 200 to 400 mg per day in divided dosages. Take no more than 200 mg at a time with food for the duration of a cleanse.

4. Zinc

This mineral supports a number of different functions including cognition, reproduction, and immune system function. Zinc’s role in immune support has been well documented. Studies indicate that low levels of zinc are directly correlated with impaired immune function, decreased resistance to pathogenic organisms, and increased incidence of acute infections, including pneumonia in the elderly.

Zinc, like vitamin C, also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory functions. Supplementation with zinc in young adults and elderly individuals has been shown to significantly decrease oxidative stress produced by inflammatory mediators, molecules released by immune cells to protect against harmful invaders.

In addition to its role in prevention, zinc has been shown to shorten the time it takes to recover from acute infection. Research indicates that supplementation for one to two months may restore immune response and reduce the incidence of infection overall.

Recommended dose: Zinc should be taken in 30 mg dosages with food on a short-term basis. Consult your health care practitioner if you have type 1 diabetes or AIDS, as zinc supplementation may pose a health risk for these individuals.

5. Vitamin C

This vitamin supports and stimulates the immune system. Research indicates that supplementation with vitamin C increases the body’s ability’s to fight infection by stimulating lymphocyte production. These immune cells fight off viruses and attack our own cells that have been compromised by viruses or cancer. Vitamin C also supports the antimicrobial (antiviral and antibacterial) actions of the immune system.

In addition to its immune-stimulating benefits, vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant. Research shows that vitamin C may protect the body against the oxidative stress that is created as the body mounts an inflammatory reaction and also may protect the body against chronic disease.

Recommended dose: Research indicates that dosages of 1,000 to 2,000 mg per day show good results with no side effects. Vitamin C should be taken with food, and only 1,000 mg
should be taken at a time to ensure optimal absorption.

Believe it or not, even if you're doing all those things, it still might not be enough to catapult you to the level of health you dream of...

As helpful as each of these actions is -- and I sincerely urge you to begin taking these actions immediately -- there are three simple measures you can take to improve your health and energy levels. In only ten days, you can begin to see a big difference!

Sometimes called colon cleansing, it can be a big help in removing toxins from your body.

A major word of caution!
Many people make mistakes with colon cleansing...often very significant mistakes...

First, you might never do it at all, with the mistaken belief that if you're taking all the other above actions you don't need it. Or maybe you've never even thought about it.

Second, if you do colon cleansing, you might inadvertently choose products that are very harsh on your body, take too long, or are cumbersome and disruptive to use. You choose a good option but then execute it in a damaging or inconvenient way.

Third, you do a colon cleansing and then fail to keep the ongoing 'maintenance' up.

Now you can do 3 great things for your digestive health:

detoxify, maintain and support your digestive system ... by combining the benefits of the Ardyss Ultra Body Cleanse Detox System, Green 29, Green Le`vive and  Revoltionary Direct Disk Ionization Alkaline Water Machine.

The rhetorical answer is: If humans breathe, drink, put creams on their skin or eat, they are likely contaminated. Heavy metals and other toxins enter our bodies through all of the above mentioned processes.

Let’s look at radioactive elements that come from coal alone. Research is now showing we are not only exposed to the coal burning in America but from China and other countries around the world. I recently heard in a seminar, that China is adding one coal burning electrical generating plant per week to keep up with demands.

Some trace elements in coal are naturally radioactive. These radioactive elements include uranium (U), thorium (Th), thallium (Ti) and their numerous decay products, including radium (Ra) and radon (Rn). There are other coal constituents such as arsenic, selenium and mercury that contaminate us.

Assessment of the radiation exposure from coal burning is critically dependent on the concentration of radioactive elements in coal and in the fly ash that remains after combustion. Radioactive elements from coal and fly ash come into contact with the general public when they are dispersed in air and water and are included in commercial products that contain fly ash, like additives to concrete building products. These also contain radon.

Dr. Carin Smit, a South African clinical metal toxicologist said that the situation could no longer be ignored. She said, “There is evidence of harm for these children in my care and… it is imperative that their bodies be cleaned up and their metabolisms be supported to deal with such a devastating presence of radioactive material.”

Dr. Smit feels large amounts of coal burning could indeed have effects both from heavy metal poisoning itself and also from genetic defects caused by the low level radiation. One of the main chemical effects associated with exposure to uranium and its compounds is kidney toxicity. This toxicity can be caused by breathing air containing uranium dusts or by eating substances containing uranium, which then enters the bloodstream. Once in the bloodstream, the uranium compounds are filtered by the kidneys, where they can cause damage to the kidney cells.

The extent of damage from exposure to a uranium compound depends on the solubility and the route of the exposure. Inhalation and ingestion are the main sources with external radiation being less severe.

I am constantly being asked where the heavy metals come from. So I will do a Puzzle Piece on the most common over the next few weeks.

EACH PATIENT, EACH VISIT ShOULD BE SCREENED FOR HEAVY METALS AND THE NUTRI-WEST HOMEOPATHIC METALS USED TO START THEIR RELEASE FROM THE BODY.

This will uncover many hidden weaknesses and especially assist in balancing brain function with nutrition, craniosacral and laser therapy.
We then support the patient with Total Chelate from one to three per day and the appropriate essential fatty acid such as Total Flaxseed Oil or Complete Omega-3 Essentials.
